Nintendo's original Game Boy, conceived by Gunpei Yokoi and the R&D1 team, fused a Sharp LR35902 CPU, dot-matrix screen, eight-bit sound, link-cable multiplayer, and legendary efficiency—running for up to 30 hours on four AA batteries; it launched in Japan on April 21 1989, North America on July 31 1989, and Europe on September 28 1990 with Tetris and Super Mario Land leading the lineup.
